Download the installer version from one of the official sources:

After downloading, run the installer executable and follow the installation wizard. The installer will:

  • Install SteamTools on your system
  • Create desktop shortcuts
  • Add SteamTools to Windows Start menu
  • Set up all necessary components

Note: The installer version permanently installs SteamTools on your system. You can uninstall it through Windows Settings → Apps → SteamTools.

Download the portable version from one of the official sources:

After downloading, extract the portable version to any folder and run SteamTools.exe directly. No installation required!

  • Extract to any folder (USB drive, desktop, etc.)
  • Run SteamTools.exe directly
  • No system modifications
  • Perfect for USB drives or temporary use
  • Easy to remove - just delete the folder

Advantage: The portable version doesn't modify your system. You can run it from a USB drive or any location without installation.

Windows Requirements

  • Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11
  • Architecture: 64-bit (x64)
  • Steam Client: Steam must be installed on your system
  • Disk Space: ~20-30 MB for installation
  • Internet: Required for downloading (not required for operation)

No Additional Dependencies: SteamTools is a standalone application. No Python, GTK, or other dependencies required. Everything is included in the download.

Note: SteamTools is only available for Windows 10/11. Linux and macOS versions are not available.

After Installation

Get started with SteamTools

Once you've downloaded and installed (or extracted) SteamTools, you're ready to start using it.

First Time Setup

  1. Launch SteamTools (from Start menu if installed, or run SteamTools.exe if portable)
  2. Make sure Steam client is installed and running on your system
  3. Get the AppID for the game you want to add (use SteamDB or Steam-Tools-Game-Finder)
  4. Generate or obtain Manifest files and Lua scripts (use steamtools.site)
  5. Use SteamTools to add the game to your library
  6. The game should appear in your Steam library!

Important: Always backup your Steam library files before using SteamTools. Games added through SteamTools may disappear after Steam client updates.

Keeping SteamTools Updated

Stay up to date with the latest version

To update SteamTools, simply download the latest version from the official sources and install it again.

Update Methods

  • Installer Version: Download the latest installer from steamtools.app or steamtools.ayka.dev and run it. It will update your existing installation.
  • Portable Version: Download the latest portable version and replace your old files, or extract to a new folder.

Note: There's no automatic update mechanism in SteamTools. Check the official download sites periodically for new versions, or follow community channels for update announcements.

Important: After updating SteamTools, you may need to re-add games to your library if they disappeared. Always backup your Steam library files before updating.
